Privacy Policy.
This policy explains what personal information Moduletrace LTD (https://www.moduletrace.com), the parent company of Coderank, collects when you use Coderank (https://www.coderank.net), how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run contests, pay developers and keep the platform secure. We do not sell your personal information or show advertising.
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address, username, account type, and optionally a bio and display currency.
- Sign-in details: a password if you choose one, stored only as a secure hash, or your Google account's name and email if you sign in with Google.
- Organization details clients add, such as a name, description and logo.
- Contest briefs, entries, version commits and preview URLs, and anything else you post on the platform.
- Payout details developers add: the provider, the payout email, or for Nigerian bank accounts the bank, account name and the last four digits of the account number.
- Messages you send us through the contact form or by email.
Connected git accounts
When you connect GitHub, GitLab or Gitea, we store your username on that host and an access token. Tokens are encrypted before they are stored and are used only to create, read and update repos for your contests and entries.
Payments
Card payments and bank transfers are processed by Paystack on behalf of Moduletrace LTD, which is why Paystack and your statements show that name. Your card details go directly to Paystack and are never stored by Coderank. We keep records of your payments, wallet transactions and payouts, including amounts, dates and payment references.
Information collected automatically
When you use the platform we record security and activity logs, such as sign-ins, sign-outs and payment events, along with the time and the IP address they came from. Your IP address is also used to limit repeated sign-in and contact attempts, and your approximate country is used to pick a default display currency.
Cookies and local storage
We use only the cookies needed to run the platform: an encrypted session cookie that keeps you signed in, a security cookie that protects your session, and a short-lived cookie used while you enter a sign-in code. We also keep your theme choice and unsent form drafts in your browser's local storage.
We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
How we use your information
- to create and secure your account and sign you in;
- to run contests, show entries and previews to clients, and hand the winning code over;
- to process payments, refunds and developer payouts;
- to send sign-in codes and emails about your account, contests and payments;
- to prevent fraud and abuse, and to keep the platform secure;
- to answer your messages and provide support;
- to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Who can see your information
Your name, username, bio and the contests or entries you take part in may be visible to other users. A client sees a developer's entry through its preview URL, and sees its source code only when the developer shares it. When a contest completes, the client receives the winning version in full.
Your payout details, payment records and email address are not shown to other users.
Service providers
We share information only with the providers that help us run the platform, and only as far as they need it:
- Paystack, to process payments and payouts;
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google;
- GitHub, GitLab or Gitea, for the git accounts you connect;
- our email and hosting providers, to send emails and run the platform.
How long we keep information
We keep your account information while your account is open. Contest, payment and payout records may be kept for longer where the law requires it or to resolve disputes. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
Security
Sessions are encrypted, passwords are hashed, git access tokens are encrypted, and access to personal information inside our team is limited to those who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us straight away if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the Nigeria Data Protection Act and the GDPR, you may have the right to:
- access a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law;
- object to or restrict how we use your information;
- receive your information in a portable format.
Exercising your rights
You can update most of your account details in your settings. For anything else, including closing your account, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
Children
Coderank is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the platform changes. We will post the new version on this page and update the date above, and for significant changes we will also let you know by email.
